Corona Won't Keep the Chickens down

Writer's picture: Miss JeanneMiss Jeanne

Whilst the world around us slows, farm life keeps plugging along. My daughter is here helping with the chickens and turkeys and my husband is working hard getting ready for spring farming. The chicken hens are are laying about 2 dozen eggs a day and the turkey hens are averaging 1.5 eggs a day between the two of them. We unfortunately lost a tom yesterday to a local, but with the arrival of chicks coming at the end of the week, the farm is an ongoing reminder of new beginnings and the ever circling cycle of life. I am very much looking forward to the cute, fluffy little bundles coming. The arrival of the Bielefelders and Salmon Faverolles are probably what I am most excited about. I tried getting the Faverolles my first year, but lost them very early on. So, i'm excited to try again. The Bielefelders are a German Chicken that my daughter wanted me to have for Mother's Day.
